Had a blast fishing with the
Ecooda Maelstrom EMM 5000
fishing reel from
Kast King
The Maelstrom is a great spinning reel. It is very lightweight and easy to use. I have the 5000 series and even being the largest of the line it is still lightweight. It has an easy to use front and rear drag function made with carbon fiber drags. The stainless steel bearings and main shaft make it really strong and durable and will last for years. I love the 5.1:1 gear ratio makes it easy to reel in the more lively fish like bass and crappie. The handle is slightly padded on the reel so it makes it comfortable to turn and use. The line lock switch is located conveniently under the reel so its easy to flip the switch back and forth when needed. This reel is very easy to cast and casts out nice and smooth every time. I am a petite lady and I am somewhat new to fishing and I found this reel really easy to operate and use compared to other reels I've tried out. Its also very lightweight in my hands and my hands and wrists don't get tired from holding it.
We purchased a rod for this reel at a local outdoor store in our area. We spent around $30 for the rod and it works great with the reel. The reel was easy to install onto the rod and fit it like a glove. My father used this reel and caught a 28 pound blue channel cat and had no problem reeling in the big guy. My fiancee will also be using this reel on his upcoming trip and will be doing some saltwater fishing. The stainless steel and carbon fiber wont rust or corrode so he doesn't have to worry about ruining the reel. Myself and my family love using this reel and we have a lot of fun fishing with it. I received this product in exchange for my unbiased review of it.
